A little about us.

Good Hope School is a small international primary school in the town of Nkhata Bay which is on the lakeshore of Northern Lake Malawi. Opened in 2013.
Our school has 17 children in 3 classes, this year 2016, they are doing reception, year one and year two. The school is taught in English and follows the Cambridge curriculum. The children are all living locally and their parents all work at Mayoka Village Beach Lodge (a small backpackers). The lodge is responsible for the running and financing of the school. The children are in school from 8 am to 2 pm and given fruit at break time and a cooked lunch Monday to Friday.

Our aim is to provide our children with a quality education that is on a par with the rest of the world and give our children the ability and option to continue their education and careers in any subject and in any country. This is not available anywhere near us or in any way affordable in Malawi and so we decided to do it ourselves. Thanks to Mayoka Beach Lodge we are able to rent a suitable building for the school and furnish it and provide enough of the right resources to educate our children properly. The school also employs two Malawian teachers pernamently to teach and provide continuity. However we are always looking for qualified teachers to volunteer with us to provide the international element to the school.

Below are some photos of the founders and owners of the school and Mayoka Beach Lodge, Gary and Kathryn Wiggill and our three children Lughano, Martin and Zoe. And one of our teachers Zione.
